Christian Baden

Christian Baden is an associate professor at the Department of Communication and Journalism at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focuses on the collaborative construction of meaning in dynamic public debates, with a specific focus on the contestation and renegotiation of shared meanings, as well as those cultural and discursive resonance processes responsible for the formation of in-group consensus. His publications in the field’s leading journals have contributed to theory and methodology in research on framing, discourse dynamics, and the social and psychological process of sense making, consensus and contestation. His methodological work combines techniques of qualitative discourse analysis and frame analysis with network-analytic perspectives and contemporary strategies for the automated processing of large-scale discourse. He co-leads OPTED’s WP6, which focuses on Multilingualism, and is a member of the OPTED Executive Board.
